Tips on training a horse – videos, leading, riding, driving, jumping

About Me

Hey, Angelia here, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for checking out my site dedicated to Horse Training. I’ve been around horses my entire life (was riding by myself just after I could sit up alone!). No joke! My mom trained her horse to walk in a circle.  If I leaned a little one way Sandy would stop and wait until I stopped leaning or wiggling and then start walking again.  They say I would stay outside riding for hours.

As I grew older my feelings towards riding and horses did not change a bit. I spent every moment I could outside riding or just hanging out with Tuffy (my best pal).  My grandfather bought, sold, and traded horses constantly so we always had new “toys” to play with.  My sisters and I enjoyed a little variety at times while we were younger.  As we got older we preferred to ride our own horses more.  I mean…..playing tag or hide-and-go-seek is so much more fun when you know exactly how your horse will respond!!!!

These were our two favorite games.  The one rule for tag was that you were not allowed to go any faster than a slow lope (well….medium canter 🙂 ).  Hide and go seek was done in the woods, so we limited the speed to a fast trot.  The rules worked as we didn’t get an eye poked out or suffer any major injuries.

As we grew older we tried different things – play days, barrel racing, team penning, rodeo queen competitions, quadrille (what a blast!), western riding competitions, reining, etc.  Sorry…not much english experience here unless you count fighting over the english or aussie saddles my grandfather purchased occasionally and jumping over a board we suspended between 2 buckets.  I’m from North East Texas and there just isn’t any English riding or jumping going on in the area.

Anyway, my point is that I have many many hours of horseback riding experience.  My family is still heavily involved with horses.  My mom breeds and trains foundation quarter horses (mostly palomino, but has a solid black stallion also now).  One sister and her daughter are happily raising a mare & foal and are into the roping and rodeo queen circuit.  My other sister has two great boys who have been riding since they were young but just started taking English riding lessons in January 2011.

Unfortunately I do not have a job that revolves around horses.  I am a computer geek of sorts.  I create websites and do search engine optimization & marketing (SEO) for small business owners.  I’m quite good at what I do so I have the luxury of working from home and visiting family often.

A few years ago I started a website for fun – Fix My Horse – It is all about horse care, horse training, selection and more. – I was hoping to get family or friends involved in creating a fun site dedicated to other people who love horses & the outdoors.  However….because it would take work nobody was really interested.  So, the site has been pretty stagnate for 3-4 years now.  If you love horses and would like to take over or help out, contact me and we will see what we can work out.  I’m really easy to work with, but have no interest in someone doing a sloppy job even on a fun site.

Well, that’s about it for me.  Website development guru who loves horses and horseback riding!

Happy Trails!

Hey, Angelia here. Thanks for checking out my site. I am a girl from Texas who loves horses and horseback riding. I grew up learning from horses without much training (it was all implied) and now I crave knowledge from others about secret tips for training a horse.
